Évora - Monte do Serrado de Baixo

Évora is best visited on foot. Forget the maps and orientations. Just follow your instincts. Discover the alleys and side streets, windows and balconies, the whitewash typical houses and the relaxing atmosphere. There are many places that you must visit, some mentioned in the guide books, some not. Talk to us for recommendations!

ÉVORA CITY

Walk through the Aqueduct Street (Rua do Cano).
Visit the Roman Temple area, and go inside the Lóios Chapel.
Go down the 5 de Outubro Street and visit the store “Monte Sobro”. At the same street, further down, find the “Alforge”.
Go to the market on Saturday or Sunday in the morning and chat with the local farmers.
Have a “queijada de Évora” – cottage cheese cake.
Taste a conventual “pastel de nata” at the Camões pastry.
Take the kids to the park.
Eat some snails with toasts at the end of the day.
Visit the “Oficina da Terra” store, nearby the “Praça do Sertório”.

MEGALITHIC MONUMENTS

By car, on foot, on a bicycle or in a 4WD, those are places that you must visit. We’re proud to have the biggest dolmen in Europe, the oldest cromlech and a huge menhir, all only a few kms from each other. If you want to go further you have many others to visit.

FITA PRETA WINERY

The Fita Preta Winery is located in a medieval property with a 14th century’s palace, recently restored after several years left to abandonment. António Maçanita, an irreverent and acclaimed Portuguese wine maker, and Alexandra, his wife and experienced Event’s planner, are committed to bringing wine experiences to an upper level. You will be surprised with the surroundings, the precious palace, the quality of the wines and the hospitality. Go walking, by bike or by car. They are just next door!

WALKING ALONG THE AQUEDUCT

Dive in the countryside. Discover beautiful houses, small farms, sheep, cows and horses, aromatic herbs, olive and cork trees. With or without guide, just do it.

ECO TRAIL

Bring the kid’s bike (or rent one of ours) and go through the countryside using this non traffic trail, where kids are always safe.

GRAÇA DO DIVOR

Just nearby, a small village of white and blue. A majestic church and a very good restaurant, “Restaurante Divor”.
