We stayed at Monte Serrado de Baixo for two days during our bike tour with Turaventur.
The rooms were large and comfy and it was hard trying to resist the temptation to settle in for a longer stay! Breakfast was an incredible spread of bread, cheese, meat, and fruits (different spread each day). And it was so wonderfully relaxing to return from a long bike ride to enjoy a local bottle of wine and delicious local food with friends around the dining table, or sprawled out in the lounge area. The grounds of the farm were amazing in itself - the olive trees and the aqueduct ruins were fun to explore in the early morning. It was also a relatively quick cab ride to Evora. I would definitely return just to enjoy a bit of relaxation in the rustic charm of this nestled farmstay.

This farmstay was the highlight of our trip to Portugal. It was a small farm but the owners had big hearts. We were able to get the feel of living in Portugal, down some side streets and making the most of the land.
The rooms were clean and quite large and you had full use of the full house. The breakfast was fresh squeezed oranges, right off the tree and a buffet of lovely local foods. Even though we were the only guests at this off season time, we still got the royal treatment.
The fact that the owners also ran TurAventur was excellent as we were able to rent bikes at the last minute and the jeep and kayak tour we had planned, was so much more then we expected. The owner was the guide and she took us on a wonderful trip for the whole day, she was so knowledgeable about the area, the history and life of local residents. Would never have seen this part of Portugal on a standard tour.

We had a wonderful stay at Monte do Serrado (the second time we've been back) and would strongly recommend it. The old farmhouse has been beautifully restored, it is comfortable, spacious and spotless! Teresa and Zezinha are wonderful hosts and serve you an amazing breakfast the likes of which you will not see very often! Would this be anywhere in the US and it would be rated as a luxury inn. We were also lucky enough to sign up for a day long tour of the region on a 4x4 with Zezinha - it was unforgetable... and did I mention the picnic on the banks of the Guadiana?

We have spent one week in Monte de Serrado de Baixo in July 2011 having rented the entire house of 4 bedrooms. The general impression is definitely of excellent stay and we will definitely return back either for vacations with kids or even for business trips to Evora region to have a quit retreat at the end of the day. The location is very quit and charming in the heart of Alentejo country side on the farm with animals, fresh fruits and at the same time just minutes away from historic Evora. Very hospitable owners being always ready to be of any help and having travel agency with a pack of interesting adventure tours for various outdoor activities around. The house is spacious with four en-suit bedrooms, big sitting room, full equipped kitchen, dining room, plenty space for secluded sitting outside, big swimming pool and fruit garden for guest's use. Very good place for quit sleeping and relax. I cannot sleep well in all the places but have used to oversleep perfectly every day in this place.
Highly recommended !!!

My husband and I went to Portugal in April for a cycling holiday and took our own bikes from UK. Our first stop was Serrado de Baixo and Teresa was an absolute star in helping us find out how to transport the bikes etc. We had a lovely stay, in spite of the unusually rainy weather in April! The ambience is very relaxing, great fireplace, and the whole house very tastefully decorated. But our favourite was Maria's breakfasts in the mornings ... fresh juice, yummy local cheeses and bread, and beautiful CAKES!

It is suitably located from Evora, and offers some nice gentle bike rides. It was a great way to start our Alentejo cycling holiday. Thanks for making our stay memorable.

Highly recommended!

My wife and I spent 2 great nights at Monte do Serrado de Baixo as part of our 25th wedding anniversary celebration. We toured Portugal for three weeks.
We were very excited to sight see in Evora, but did not want to stay in the city. I did some research and found this charming organic farm not too far away from Evora.
We arrived late the first night and Teresa arranged for us to have a dinner. When we arrived we were greeted and then the two of us enjoyed a candlelight dinner that was served to us in the beautiful dining room. The staff set things out and then left us alone to enjoy. The food was wonderful.
We stayed in the Cork Room which was perfect with doors out to the garden and a very comfortable bed and great bathroom.
A great breakfast was laid out in the dining room in the morning with everything you could imagine. I especially remember the great dark bread and coffee.
After spending the day in Evora, one of the highlights was a swim in the pool and lounging in the garden watching the sun go down.
All of Teresa's suggestions for dining were perfect.
We had a great time on our visit and would recommend Monte do Serrado de Baixo to anyone looking for a memorable experience

My wife and I asked Tur Aventur to help us organize a stay at their farm and to assist us with a cheese tour in the region. They were extremely helpful in identifying cheese artisans to visit. We stayed in Portugal for 10 days, 4 days of which were at the farm. We found it to be an oasis from the city of Lisbon where we started the trip. Being cheesemakers, we enjoyed the rural farmstead, the large living spaces and fireplace, the hospitality of the owners and staff and the food that was prepared for us. The breakfast was good each day in a sun-filled room. One night we had a traditional Portugese cooking lesson which was fantastic. On another night the owner, Anna noticed that we were too tired to go out for dinner, so she was kind enough to bring us some soup, bread and wine...perfect! Could not ask for more. We enjoyed having the downtime and not being fussed over. Anna, Maria and Luis were all very helpful when we needed them. They were the perfect hosts. We visited many historical sites and towns in the Alentejo region, in addition to several great cheese and winemakers. They were all very knowlegeable about their country and environs. It was very good to talk with them about their life in Portugal. We learned a lot from them and gained a better understanding and appreciation for the Portugese culture. We would highly recommend this as a great farm stay and as a home base to learn more about the culture of Portugal.
