ACTIVITIES JEEP

STONES OF HISTORY

Join us in our four wheel drive (jeep), to discover the green area of Valverde and Guadalupe, and some of the most emblematic monuments of the region of Évora: the cromlech and the menhir of Almendres, the big dolmen of Zambujeiro (megalithic monuments), the ruins of Giraldo’s Castle and the Roman ruins of Tourega. Somewhere under a tree we stop for a bite of local cheese and chorizos and, of course, a good glass of wine!

WINE, CHEESE, ARTS&CRAFTS
If you like to know “How Things Are Done”, this tour is for you. Enjoy a full day visiting several local artisans and producers. Visit a cheese maker, which also produces local liqueurs and honey - You can choose the morning visit and maybe get to see the ladies making cheese, or go in the end of the day and see the sheep being milked. All these activities along with the cattle raising makes for a great and diversified experience of country life in a big farm. Ravasqueira farm is next, a beautiful ancient farm with really nice wines, a private carriage museum and beautiful architecture, all the product of one man’s dream. Wine tasting included here and there is the option for a formidable picnic in the middle of the vineyards. A really unique experience (ask for picnic extra price). If the picnick did not apeal then stop in Arraiolos to grab a snack (not included). Here enjoy the visit of the historical center, where you can taste the famous pastries and then climb to the castle. The views are absolutely breathtaking. Next we visit the fantastic Aldeia da Terra - imagine a miniature cartoon village all made of clay! A real treat for you sense of humor and a light way to end a rich day!

CONQUEERING MONSARAZ
We travel by jeep through the River Degebe valley heading to the majestic Alqueva Lake. River crossings, a leather factory and undulating hills meet us on the way. Near Reguengos many vineyards paint the landscape of green in the summer. After a picnic lunch by the lake, we conquer Monsaraz on foot. We visit the lovely village with amazing views over the Alqueva lake. On the way back, we visit some megalithic monuments and the pottery village of São Pedro do Corval.

CORK AND MARBLE ROUTE
What do you know about these two tremendously important economic activities of the Alentejo? Their distinctive lines are highlighted in the landscape and their mesmerizing effect will make you wonder about them. But will your questions be answered? Definitely! Accept our invitation and come and take a closer look! Rest under a cork tree, enjoy the cool shade it has to offer and learn about cork extraction and all its little secretsVisit the cork factory, learn about the transformation, and see the final product. Here you can ask your million questions and demystify why wine breaths in the bottle! Then let us take you on a trip to the moon like landscape of Estremoz. Climb the impressive donjon tower, all made of marble, and take in glorious views. Visit a beautiful winery, set in a farm, and taste the wonderful Alentejo wine. We stop at a typical café where you can have some lunch (not included) and then visit the marble quarries. Ask a million questions more, wondering how all this came about. Explore the gorgeous historical center of Vila Viçosa, where the "white gold" (marble local name) shows off its "chic" look.
